What is Mediation?
The Lucas County Court of Common Pleas offers a mediation program for civil lawsuits. Mediation is an alternative dispute resolution process where a trained mediator assists the parties in creating an acceptable resolution to their case.
Under Ohio law, all communications made in connection with the mediation of a case are confidential and generally cannot be introduced in a civil proceeding. The Civil Mediation Program is staffed by full-time, in-house mediators. Civil cases may be referred to the program at any time with the consent of the assigned judge.
