Accounting and Financial Reporting

General Information

The Collection and Distribution of Property Taxes

Checks are written from three accounts: budget, specials, and payroll. Returned checks are reconciled by the Accounting Department. Along with recording revenue and expenditures of the county, the Auditor accounts for the collection and distribution of property taxes.

Taxes are levied on behalf of school districts, cities, villages, townships, and park districts in Lucas County. Taxes are also collected for the Zoo, Library, Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority, 9-1-1, and four county social services boards.

The Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (A.C.F.R.) is the official audited financial statement for all of Lucas County. The Popular Annual Financial Report (P.A.F.R.) is a summarization of accounting data in an easy to understand format.
